Computers have been a very important part of my life since, as a pre-engineering major, I took a required course in FORTRAN programming in college. Before the semester was over I was working for a member of the History Department doing custom programming to analyze legislative bodies’ voting records from the mid-19^th century. We analyzed both Congressional and midwest states voting data.
