October 28, 2007: Edinborough Park

I normally attend, and record, all of the Sousa Band concerts during the Winter season, if we're in town. This one was a rare occasion since I was in town, but busy with another obligation.

On this evening, I attended to my other obligation and sent Sheri in my stead to record the concert. She was rather nervous about setting up my digital recorder and starting Scott's DAT recorder. Nevertheless, armed with a crib sheet she tackled the task. "She done good!" Although somehow she got a "Card Error" message on the recorder, fortunately after the concert recording had been stopped, she captured a good quality recording.

As I'm writing this I still haven't listened to the concert. I have, however, sliced and diced the file into individual pieces, created my necessary WAV and MP3 files, and uploaded the MP3s to this site. What I heard while editing sounded pretty good. And, as usual, Scott selected good numbers around this month's Halloween theme.

I'm sure you'll enjoy these recordings (encoded at 192Kbps):

  1. Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Sousa
  2. Satan Takes a Holiday, Clinton
  3. On the Quarter Deck, Alford
  4. A Tribute to Harry James, arr. Nesticdo
  5. In the Hall of the Mountain King, Grieg
  6. Bones Trombone, Fillmore
  7. Electric Shock March, Puccini
  8. Deserted Ballroom, Gould
  9. Clarinet Candy, Anderson
  10. Dance of the Witches, Williams
  11. Galloping Ghosts, Ryden
  12. Dixieland on Parade, Henderson
  13. Punch and Judy, Mancini
  14. The Stars and Stripes Forever, Sousa
